Talking to a liberal

Speaking to my brother on the phone today, the subject crept closer and closer to politics, a subject we have agreed not to talk about because we are diametrically opposed in almost every possible way. Yet - my liberal brother sounds a bit hesitant about his man Obama.

I didn't jump on that and rub his nose in it, I just quietly relished the moment thinking - okay, it's a baby step . . . ! That is, until we started tip-toeing around the healthcare issue and Fox News. His opinion is that no one should watch ONLY Fox News because people who do are "fed" a certain mindset and untruths masked as facts. I had to laugh although again, I bit my tongue. Yeah - that main stream media certainly doesn't slant things a certain way, do they? And they ALWAYS report the facts! Uh huh! NOT.

As far as the healthcare issue goes, he said he couldn't understand why people throw things around like government run healthcare and Socialism. He says "this is about health INSURANCE, not government healthcare." I had to draw the line there, finally had to say something. I pointed out that that's what the public option is, or will be, government run healthcare. He tried to say that it wouldn't be for everyone, people would be able to have the healthcare they want, it would only be a choice.

Astonishing! My brother is no dummy, and I could not believe these things were coming out of his mouth! I told him that it would start that way, but once the insurance companies were squeezed out because they can't compete with the government, we would ALL have government run healthcare. It would only be a matter of time.

My brother said "but that is a 'could be' not a 'will be'. We can't vote on a 'could be'. If I could have reached through that phone I think I would have slapped him. Is that what the liberals can't see? They cannot look beyond the here and now and realize that everything has to start somewhere, and getting the public "option" out there is just a stepping stone?

We stopped the conversation before it got more complicated, we were on the phone because we did have some serious family business to discuss and we know we have to work together. But that is the closest my brother, with his degrees in history and political science was actually a little (underscore little) thoughtful about what I was saying. He didn't immediately tell me I was wrong and trample my voice to tell me how.

And he actually admitted that he does watch Fox News along with a few other outlets because he wants all the angles of the issues. Personally, I think Fox is starting to win a tiny bit. Not that he would ever admit it. But if he ever crosses over to our side completely - you can bet I'll rub his nose in it. BIG!

What IS this????

I work until 5:00pm every day. Which means I rarely see Glenn Beck at his regularly scheduled time. I do not have a DVR, no TIVO or any of that. So tonight I thought I would see if I could find Glenn's show on the internet so I can avoid the technical mocking of my children when I tape it on my VCR. I came upon HULU. I have heard of it before, I'm not totally lacking in this kind of knowledge, but I had not explored this particular venue.

Hmmm, where would Glenn Beck be... in the News and Information category? Or .. News and Information Channel? Ya think? So I was searching and before I ever found Glenn, I found THIS. What IS this???
*

Is this a channel for news? Is this MSNBC? Is this MSNBC shilling for Obama?? Is this where MSNBC finally admits it's adoration of and idolization of the POTUS?

We've got little children singing creepy "praise Obama" songs in schools, we've got the MSM practically voting Barack Obama into office and then acting as his press agents. And now we have this. If someone has the stomach to watch a bit of it and tell me what it contains, please feel free.

I don't think I can. Blech!

Oh, and I think I'll go watch Glenn on my VCR tonight, and continue my search tomorrow. I hope I don't have nightmares!

One time I disagree with Charles Krauthammer

Does He Lie?
No, but Obama implies, misdirects, and misleads.

By Charles Krauthammer

You lie? No. Barack Obama doesn’t lie. He’s too subtle for that. He . . . well, you judge.

Herewith three examples within a single speech — the now-famous Obama-Wilson “you lie” address to Congress on health care — of Obama’s relationship with truth.

(1) “I will not sign (a plan),” he solemnly pledged, “if it adds one dime to the deficit, now or in the future. Period.”

Wonderful. The president seems serious, veto-ready, determined to hold the line. Until, notes Harvard economist Greg Mankiw, you get to Obama’s very next sentence: “And to prove that I’m serious, there will be a provision in this plan that requires us to come forward with more spending cuts if the savings we promised don’t materialize.”

This apparent strengthening of the pledge brilliantly and deceptively undermines it. What Obama suggests is that his plan will require mandatory spending cuts if the current rosy projections prove false. But there’s absolutely nothing automatic about such cuts. Every Congress is sovereign. Nothing enacted today will force a future Congress or a future president to make any cuts in any spending, mandatory or not.

Just look at the supposedly automatic Medicare cuts contained in the Sustainable Growth Rate formula enacted to constrain out-of-control Medicare spending. Every year since 2003, Congress has waived the cuts.

Mankiw puts the Obama bait-and-switch in plain language. “Translation: I promise to fix the problem. And if I do not fix the problem now, I will fix it later, or some future president will, after I am long gone. I promise he will. Absolutely, positively, I am committed to that future president fixing the problem. You can count on it. Would I lie to you?”

It's unusual that I disagree with Mr. Krauthammer. I think he's an incredibly brilliant guy, way smarter than I am and more articulate than I can ever hope to be. But he is being quite charitable to the president in my view. When Obama represents something to the American people by implying, misdirecting, and misleading them about the true facts, call me silly - but that's lying!

Joe Wilson was absolutely correct, and he spoke for many of us who aren't prone to skirting the issue with semantics. President Obama, YOU LIE!

It's time to pick out his nursing home!

Jimmy Carter as quoted by CNN.com today:

"I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man, that he's African-American," Carter told "NBC Nightly News." "I live in the South, and I've seen the South come a long way, and I've seen the rest of the country that shares the South's attitude toward minority groups at that time, particularly African-Americans."

"That racism inclination still exists, and I think it's bubbled up to the surface because of belief among many white people -- not just in the South but around the country -- that African-Americans are not qualified to lead this great country. It's an abominable circumstance, and it grieves me and concerns me very deeply," Carter said.

I can barely bring myself to comment on this because it is so absurd as to be laughable! But. This is a former president of the United States and what he says still has weight with some people. Not sure who those people are but some are all too happy to jump on that race card as soon as someone throws it. Carter has come out with too many irresponsible comments on domestic and foreign policy, and has been criticizing his own country outside it's borders. (not unlike our current president, come to think of it.)

Does he think he is helping anyone with this kind of rhetoric? Who does he help? Personally I think Jimmy misses the spotlight and power of actually being in office, any office, and needs to turn the attention back to himself. If that's not it - it's time for Amy and Roslyn to pick a nice home for him.

**Edited to add: ...um also ... HOW DARE HE????

Sargeant Schultz all over again!

Charlie Gibson admits to knowing NOTHING about the recent Acorn videos and associated scandal. This is from WLS 890 in Chicago, Don Wade and Roma were interviewing Charlie Gibson.

Amazing. And some people still think the MSM represents the news in a fair, balanced, and objective way. Might as well call it Liberobama TV.

THE PLAN

HE MADE THIS SPEECH IN NEW YORK ...
Robin Williams, wearing a shirt that says, 'I love New York ' in Arabic. You gotta love Robin Williams..... Even if he's nuts! Leave it to Robin Williams to come up with the perfect plan..
*

What we need now is for our UN Ambassador to stand up and repeat this message. Robin Williams' plan... (Hard to argue with this logic!)

'I see a lot of people yelling for peace, but I have not heard of a plan for peace. So, here's one plan.'

1) 'The US will apologize to the world for our 'interference' in their affairs, past & present. You know, Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Tojo, Noriega, Milosevic, Hussein, and the rest of those 'good 'ole' boys', we will never 'interfere' again.

2) We will withdraw our troops from all over the world, starting with Germany , South Korea , the Middle East, and the Philippines . They don't want us there. We would station troops at our borders. No one allowed sneaking through holes in the fence.

3) All illegal aliens have 90 days to get their affairs together and leave. We'll give them a free trip home. After 90 days, the remainder will be gathered up and deported immediately, regardless of whom or where they are. They're illegal!!! France will welcome them.

4) All future visitors will be thoroughly checked and limited to 90 days, unless given a special permit!!!! No one from a terrorist nation will be allowed in.. If you don't like it there, change it yourself and don't hide here. Asylum would never be available to anyone. We don't need any more cab drivers or 7-11 cashiers..

5) No foreign 'students' over age 21. The older ones are the bombers. If they don't attend classes, they get a 'D' and it's back home baby.

6) The US will make a strong effort to become self-sufficient energy wise. This will include developing nonpolluting sources of energy but will require a temporary drilling of oil in the Alaskan wilderness. The caribou will have to cope for a while

7) Offer Saudi Arabia and other oil producing countries $10 a barrel for their oil. If they don't like it, we go someplace else. They can go somewhere else to sell their production. (About a week of the wells filling up the storage sites would be enough.)

8) If there is a famine or other natural catastrophe in the world, we will not 'interfere.' They can pray to Allah or whomever, for seeds, rain, cement or whatever they need. Besides most of what we give them is stolen or given to the army. The people who need it most get very little, if anything.

9) Ship the UN Headquarters to an isolated island someplace. We don't need the spies and fair weather friends here. Besides, the building would make a good homeless shelter or lockup for illegal aliens.

10) All Americans must go to charm and beauty school... That way, no one can call us 'Ugly Americans' any longer. The Language we speak is ENGLISH... learn it... or LEAVE...Now, isn't that a winner of a plan? 'The Statue of Liberty is no longer saying 'Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses.' She's got a baseball bat and she's yelling, 'You want a piece of me?'

Obama are you listening??

*
I have to tell you I am SO proud of all of the people who took part in today's march on Washington, and all the other marches and meetings across the country. And while sometimes Glenn Beck gets a little over the top for me, I think we owe him a huge debt of gratitude. I have to admit watching his special today and seeing all the people and the signs, I got a bit teary eyed. It gives me hope that we can actually change things!
*

Go here to see some great pictures of the crowds and signs at the capital today. Such a GREAT day!!

MR. SQUIRREL!! PSSST! The nuts are BEHIND you!!!! Look!!!

Clinton's advice to Obama: Forget about Republicans

From CNN Ticker Producer Alexander Mooney

Clinton should forget about Republicans, Bill Clinton says.(CNN) — As President Obama gets set to address a joint-session of Congress on the issue of health care reform Wednesday night, former President Clinton says it's time to forget about the Republican Party's role in the process entirely.

"The president's doing the right thing. It is both morally and politically right," Clinton told Esquire Magazine in an interview published online Tuesday. "I wouldn't even worry about the Republicans. I'd worry about executing." . . .

. . ."Do I think he's doing the right thing, even though he's jamming a lot of change down the system? I do," he also said. "So there's a lot that's like my first year, but it's going to have a different ending — he's going to get health care reform."

Government is the problem

As much as I hate to give this man the time of day, ugh, just can't stand him, Michael Moore's new movie comes out and says it. Capitalism is evil. That is Michael Moore's stance. I mean wow, he has such a history of seeing the good in this country, doesn't he?

His new movie "Capitalism: A Love Story" contends that capitalism benefits the rich and condemns millions to poverty. "You have to eliminate it and replace it with something that is good for all people and that something is democracy." Democracy? I thought we had a Democracy. Capitalism is not a form of government so it can't be replaced with a form of government. Apples and oranges. Or can it? If he's talking Socialism, that would be all-encompassing, wouldn't it?

What is it we are really fighting here, when we stand up against Obama and his government run healthcare, when we bring to light and object to Communist advisers in the White House? What are we saying when we say we want smaller government and want the government out of our personal lives?

We are objecting to a Socialist society right here in the U.S.A.

Because you know what? It's been creeping in for years and years and years. I don't know where it started but watching the Fox special on text books with Tucker Carlson the other day, made me realize that our children have been indoctrinated in something other than the society we have now, for years! In order not to offend anyone, to make things fair our kids' text books have been sanitized to the point where the only evil people in the world, apparently, is us! The U.S. is portrayed as being the aggressor in wars, the charity of our country is not highlighted, and other nations and peoples are given a pass on anything bad they have ever done in history because we don't want to hurt anybodies feelings. In some books they aren't even saying what country most of the September 11th terrorists came from! Can you say Saudi Arabia? Can you say Islamic extremists? Because our children's text books can't!

What does that kind of teaching do? It teaches our kids that our country needs to be changed. It teaches them that the way we do things now is wrong and there is no "social justice". Poor people are kept down by the capitalists with all the money and this needs to be changed!

All the political correctness has allowed immigrants to move here and not assimilate. What happened to people wanting to become Americans?? Now they move here and demand rights so Americans tie themselves in knots to accommodate their different cultures. And we are losing our own.

We haven't spoken up because when we did we have been told that we are intolerant, racist, and discriminatory. We have been shouted down while they have removed God from our city seals and taken down our holiday displays and shaped the very words we are allowed to say!

One year the company I work for displayed a "pride" flag next to the U.S. flag in honor of "pride" month and in the spirit of diversity. I complained, other people complained, and it hasn't been done again. I don't have a flag for being heterosexual and I don't want a flag representing some one's sexual orientation next to my American flag! This has reached the point of being ridiculous!

And now, we have a president who is very nearly a Socialist and our government is being run by not only Democrats - but extremely liberal Democrats. They are willingly placing our country on the road to Socialism.

We cannot be silent any longer. In a way I thank God for this healthcare issue. It has made people look at Obama, the government, and what is happening with our country as a whole. There is no shame in being a conservative. There is no shame in wanting to stand by the Constitution and the Bill of Rights and our religion. Did you know that Socialists consider religion to be "superstition?" So when we become sufficiently enlightened like they are, we won't need to rely on a "superstition" like religion and God.

I cannot stress it enough. We need to wake up and pay attention. We need to write letters, send emails, go to tea parties and town hall meetings and we need to continue to make our voices heard! And most importantly we need to speak up with our votes!

I think I can do this!

Hope you can too! Enjoy.

I'm almost speechless!

WASHINGTON – The recession has eaten into people’s nest eggs so the government is promoting ways to make it easier to save for retirement.

One initiative that President Barack Obama outlined in his weekly radio and Internet address Saturday will allow people to have their federal tax refunds sent as savings bonds. Others are meant to require workers to take action to stay out of an employer-run savings program rather than having to take action to join it.
“We know that automatic enrollment has made a big difference in participation rates by making it simpler for workers to save,” Obama said. “That’s why we’re going to expand it to more people.”

Rattled it loose!

One of the first pieces of information I came across when I came home from work this evening was about the fact that support for Obama is falling in Illinois. Illinois being his home state (and mine as well) that does not bode well for him. I poked around on Twitter for a while and clicked on a link to a great article by Charles Krauthammer. That guy rocks, I tell you. There wasn't much on TV, this being the Friday before a holiday weekend, so I was flipping channels. That brought me straight to this post.

This has been rattling around in my brain for a while in one form or another, and I've mentioned it before. But as I landed on "Rachel Maddow" which I have never watched before, what the guest was saying caught my attention. He was laughing about people being so upset about president Obama speaking to school children next week and talking about how other presidents have done it. He was saying George H. W. Bush was the last president before Obama to have spoken to students, and the host - who was sitting in for Rachel Maddow (no idea who she was) asked this guy what the difference is between when George H. W. Bush spoke to school kids and president Obama doing it now. He was so smarmy and amused as he said "well maybe George H. W. Bush wasn't a COMMIE . . . ?"

The banter went back and forth for a couple of minutes and I went on to something more entertaining. But just before I turned it off the host said something about how hard it must have been for the guy she was interviewing when he lived in the Midwest, implying that it must have been like being the only person with obviously superior intellect living in the midst of idiots at every turn.

This is why Obama is losing support. He does not understand the average guy. Or gal. He thinks he does but obviously he thinks (and says) a lot of things that aren't true. He would have no more idea how to relate to me than I would know how to relate to a trout. There is nothing in common there. He sees the inner city poor who sit on their butts having babies and killing each other, who are passing the welfare lifestyle on to their children - as "the folks." For a man who has been called brilliant, this has been a crucial error.

Men and women who go to work every day and take care of themselves and their families started speaking up, voicing their opposition to the stimulus bill, then the healthcare bill, cash for clunkers, all of it. And what did our fabulous president do? He used ridicule and sarcasm. And cemented the alienation that began with simple questioning and doubt.

People do not like to be insulted. They do not like to be made fun of and dismissed. Celebrities like Janeane Garofalo accused tea party attendees of being racist, flat out. God forbid she might consider there were real issues to be discussed; these people had to be plain stupid to oppose this incredible man - this newly minted icon of beauty and light and all things good! Bill Maher, little weasel that he is who makes money ridiculing the very idea of religion, he called America STUPID. Stupid because we. were. speaking. out!

Liberals in general seem to think they are the "enlightened people" and oh those conservatives might catch up sometime but right now they need to be patted on the head and pushed aside. "We'll take care of this country, don't you worry your pretty little heads about it." After all - "We know what's best for you!" Or so they think.

Because we believe in the ideals this country was founded on, because we do not want the government to take care of everything for us, because we believe in God and right to life and we DON'T believe in the "anything goes" permissive society of today - we must be STUPID.

We will see who has the last laugh; we will see who has been underestimated, when we vote all these liberals out of office and kick that socialist out of OUR White House!

Nobody likes being disrespected Mr. Obama. Nobody.

Masks

I just don't get it.  Seriously.  Where did this man come from?  How did we end up with a president who seems to be able to surround himself with the dregs of political life and conservatives are the only ones who notice?  I know Obama's numbers are falling, and thank God Pelosi and Reid are losing popularity too.  But there are still enough people out there who aren't worried about what is happening in this country.  And it's not because they necessarily drank the Obama Kool-aid.

Right now in my life, this country and it's state of affairs is way high on my priority list.  Probably higher than is good for my blood pressure.  If everybody was thinking about politics as much as I am they either better be getting paid for it, or they are well on their way to being insane.  But they're not.

Nobody at work seems to be thinking about it.  At my job anyway.  I work for a national - actually an international company, it's huge!  I talk to people all day but as far as co-workers are concerned, they seem to have some kind of attitude that says "yeah well the stimulus is a joke and I don't know about healthcare, but hell, what's the worse that can happen?"

THAT makes me crazy.  I know it's a bad idea to talk politics at work but I see more apathy than I am comfortable with.  And I am afraid that the apathy is more widespread than we think.  Too many people still are not informed and when they hear conservatives yelling to be heard - they just think we're nuts.

Don't they hear the lies?  When they watch President Obama give a speech, do they hear the inconsistencies?  Don't they notice the socialist leanings, the push - push - pushing to get things passed before people have a chance to make sense of it?  Do they consider the fact that the government is not disputing any of the facts Glenn Beck is coming out with on his radio and TV shows?  No.  Many people think Glenn Beck is a nutwad of enormous proportions.  Sad.  But the government is not saying he is wrong.

Tides ARE turning, numbers are changing and hope for the right is glimmering.  But we can't sit back and feel like we've done our job, we have exposed the Potus as a radical, a socialist, a liar and who is taking this country down a dangerous road.  No.  He's pulled in Van Jones, a self-described Communist who knows nothing about creating green jobs.  Half the other people he's hired don't pay their taxes or have radical leftist views.
When Obama gets up there in front of his teleprompters to give his next speech using the Alinsky tactic of ridiculing his enemies (conservatives), telling half truths and lying by omission, there are still people sleeping in the pews who need to be listening.  And THAT makes me nervous.
I do not believe he is who he tries to appear to be.

Who is it who really cares?

I do not want to always post other people's articles but doggone it - this one just has to be seen.  With Eric Holder investigating the CIA, somebody with real authority on the subject needs to be heard.

By: Kent Clizbe

In the early days and weeks after Sept. 11, 2001, a small cadre of men (and a few women) with vast amounts of intelligence experience reported to the Langley, Va., headquarters of the CIA. These unsung heroes then were dispatched across the globe to run operations against the al-Qaida conspirators who leveled the World Trade Center and struck the nerve center of the U.S. military.

The FBI, a domestic law enforcement agency, did not have the ability or skills needed to track down and strike the attackers overseas. The Pentagon, with F22s, nuclear aircraft carriers, intercontinental ballistic missiles, and battalions of the best armor in the history of mankind, was like an elephant attacked by a mouse — mighty, but helpless in its mammoth rage.

Our best hope was in the hands of the gray-bearded intelligence professionals who fanned out across the world. Supplementing the skeleton crew of staff officers left in the wake of President Clinton's anti-intelligence scourging of the CIA, the volunteers went to the Middle East, Asia, Europe, Africa, South America, to the most remote and isolated outposts in the world. Sometimes they worked with friendly forces, and sometimes they worked alone. They focused like a laser beam on one thing: Stop the next attack.

Their mission: Seek and destroy the terrorist planners, facilitators, trainers, financiers, and their infrastructure wherever they were.

Twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, CIA officers, both the contractors and the overextended staff officers, launched dozens of initiatives. The CIA Counterterrorism Center’s motto, “Deny, Disrupt, Destroy,” became the reason for our living. We left our families for months on end and sacrificed personal and professional lives to fight the Global War on Terror (GWOT). Google “Jihadists in Paradise,” for an unauthorized account of one of my contributions (I have been advised that I can neither confirm nor deny).
