On Monday my office mate was let go. She has worked for the company I do, for 26 years. At a point in her career when she should be able to expect a gold watch, she got a pink slip instead. Her name is *Jane.

Jane had a choice to leave on Monday or to stay and tie up lose ends until the end of the week. She chose to stay. Before the end of the week she had 3 competitors asking about her, and the managing director of our location (we are a national, no - international company) coming to have a closed door meeting with her. Jane will not have trouble getting a new job. I don't think anyone is worried about that for her. She is not one of the lucky ones, she is one of the smart ones. She has a couple of degrees and certifications in different aspects of the business as well as one particular certification for something that only about 50 other people in the U.S. have.

The part that stinks is the way it feels to be the one who gets picked as expendable. Even with all her talent, even with all her contacts, Jane's number came up. Why? We don't know. She worked too long and made too much money? Maybe. She had changed positions lately and was the last hired in her area? That's a possibility too. But whatever cost reducing measure they were implementing when they let her go is going to cost the company in the long run. The amount of skill and knowledge Jane takes out the door with her cannot be replaced.

Jane and I have worked in a small room together for the last 2 years or so. I have learned more from her than from many other people I have worked with. But it has also been a love/hate relationship. So the little part of me that she annoys - the part of me that is angry that she doesn't apply her intelligence to current affairs - that part of me that wanted her to just listen to a different point of view - that little evil part says -

YOU VOTED FOR HIM!!!!

The other part of me is angry with the corporation with it's nameless, faceless pink slips, and I will miss Jane very much. But damn girl! Use your brain!

You probably voted yourself right out of the company you planned to retire from one day.

What on earth is Obama up to now? Why is he doing this to Israel? And to Netanyahu? This is the second time he has cut Netanyahu off at the knees and insulted him. Prime Minister Netanyahu is on his way here. And Obama undercuts him like that the day before! Obama has treated Netanyahu shabbily, has not done the dual podium appearance with him when he was here, had him leave by the freakin back door, he has treated the leaders of China and Mexico with much more deference!

When he demands so arrogantly that Israel push back their settlements to the 1967 borders - he is NOT speaking for me. How DARE he do this? Israel is our ally, and the only reason they still exist is because we have been theirs. Having the threat of the U.S. jumping on any country that attacks Israel has been a huge deterrent for idiots like Ahmadinejad who are just waiting for a chance to wipe Israel off the face of the planet.

What will become of Israel if we don't have their back? Doesn't Obama care?

The man disgusts me.

When he said he wanted to fundamentally transform this country it was only partly true. The man wants to and thinks he can - fundamentally transform the world!

Whoopi is playing cards with racists!

It's very apparent that while many conservative bloggers write very smart and well researched posts, I write emotional ones. Lately I haven't posted much at all until something reaches a fever pitch (and that may only be in my brain) and I feel gray matter threatening to decorate my walls if I don't just say something.

It's probably more just putting it down in writing that helps, but whatever.

This time it's the freaking race card. ARGH-H-H!!! Apparently Whoopi felt justified in playing it today because doggone it - someone finally backed the president into a corner and made him produce his long form birth certificate and then had the nerve to question how he got into Harvard if he was a crappy student! It's TRUMP for goodness sakes! He has more nerve than anyone!

Trump said something today that I wanted to plant a big wet one on top of his swirly haired head for. Reporters were peppering him with questions after he responded to hearing about the birth certificate, with barely disguised hostility, I might add. Trump made a remark about how the press "is very protective of the president".

HELLO!!!!

So here's my beef. Why is it so hard to believe that people dislike Obama so much because of his policies, his unparalleled arrogance (okay, Trump is right up there) and his unwillingness to listen to the people of the United States because he has an agenda and thinks he just knows better than we do? And the fact that the whole mainstream media protects the average viewer from anything that makes the president look bad, in stark contrast to when they highlighted anything and everything (and even made some things up) that made president Bush look bad and oh my gosh - stupid???

So yes, people are looking for what they can to discredit Obama because the press isn't investigative (apparently) anymore and are painting Obama as the happy, shiny president, and not the one that flat out lies - on-camera and in print - to the American people! Or maybe people are frightened of a president who is making our nation weak in the eyes of the world and is ruining our economy because he is incompetent and ineffective and people don't want him in office one minute longer than he has to be? Just maybe?

So Whoopi reached her limit today (much like I did) and proclaimed she was playing the race card now.

Well congrats Whoopi. You just joined the others that can't see past the color of someones skin and can't think a tiny bit outside the box to figure out some other reason people might be unhappy with an elected official.

So, just who is the racist in this equation?

I am at a loss. The moron pastor in Florida had every right to burn the Koran. Just like people have the right to conduct civil demonstrations in our nation's streets. People even have the right to burn our flag here at home. But what kind of animals rush into a building and kill people who are there to help them, simply because they represent the "infidels" who offended them?

It's to the point that I just want to bring our people home, pull up the drawbridge and put some gators in the moat. Tired. Tired of every nation around the world yelling for the U.S. to come to their aid when there is a crisis. Tired of us responding and policing the world for people who hate us and have no gratitude. We are not going to win them over. We are not bringing democracy to them. They don't understand democracy. Hell, they don't understand human decency, let alone democracy.

Tired.

There are Christians being persecuted all around the globe. Who is helping them? We're practically throwing Israel to the Palestinians, what used to be up is down. And God forbid - what used to be down is now up.

What good did President Hamid Karzai think it would do to decry the act of that evil American who dared to disrespect Islam by burning the Koran? Did he think his people would be all "oh those silly Americans, always goofing around", or did he KNOW his people would be enraged and would take vengeance on the closest western targets they could get their hands on?

I'm no foreign relations expert, but something tells me that wasn't the act of a friend to our country.

Did we grab the nearest Pakistani and behead them when Daniel Pearl was killed? Or did we have a ridiculous national discussion about whether or not anyone should participate in the Internet fueled "draw Mohamed day"? Why do we cower before their bullying?

We don't understand the minds of people so willing to kill other human beings and also willing to die themselves.

Can we drill for our own oil, develop other sources of energy too, and stop dealing with the devil? Can we get a new administration in Washington that isn't mincing around and caving to every politically correct breeze that blows in? How about an administration that actually loves the United States of America, the constitution, and the Judeo-Christian beliefs our nation was founded on?

I am tired of grieving for our people. Our people who are losing their own culture (I saw a sign the other day asking people to give "spring" baskets to needy children, really??) in an effort to not offend others. Our people who die for other cultures in other countries and barely receive a thank you in return and more likely receive a knife in the back as soon as it is turned. I don't want to grieve for our people anymore. Come home. It's time to save ourselves from people who do not want our help and have proved time and again they do not deserve it.

By "we" I mean natural-born American citizens. My thought is, if you are eligible to vote, we shouldn't have to be printing your voting notices in Spanish!

We really need to cut all this PC crap and get back to being proud of who we are and the country we love. And anyone who wants to come here and be an AMERICAN is welcome. But if you aren't willing to learn the language - go back to where it is spoken by everyone.

Why are we accommodating these people?

Canadian Family in Life Support Battle Places Hope in Michigan Hospital

The parents of a Canadian boy ordered off life support by government health officials are pinning their hopes on Michigan Children's Hospital in Detroit.

Moe Maraachli and his wife, Sana Nader, of Windsor, Ontario, are asking the Detroit hospital to accept their 13-month-old son, Joseph, currently kept alive by a respirator at a Canadian hospital. The family wants Michigan Children’s Hospital to perform a tracheotomy on the child, who suffers from a rare, progressive neurological disease which, Canadian doctors say, has left him in a vegetative state beyond recovery.

Joseph’s parents believe that if the Detroit hospital will accept the child and conduct the operation, in which doctors would place a breathing tube in his windpipe, he could be cared for at home.

But time could quickly be running out.

Canadian health care allocation officials already ruled that Joseph had to be taken off life support and allowed to die in the hospital. A Canadian judge then ruled that Moe Maraachli had to give his consent to having the breathing tube removed by Monday. He refused.

Maraachli says turning off life support could cause his son to choke and suffocate. He told Fox News on Wednesday that the doctors at London Health Sciences Centre have said the “best treatment” is to “let him die… I don’t know what kind of treatment that [is].”

The family believes this procedure will allow Joseph to breathe on his own, and thereby be able to go home and likely die there.

Doctors are now asking the Canadian government to allow them to remove the breathing tube without the family’s consent. The Ontario hospital contends that a tracheotomy would be painful for the boy, despite their argument that Joseph is in a vegetative state.

But officials there appear to be cooperating with the transfer request, noting in a statement, “We can confirm that we have sent the medical record, which is over 1,000 pages to the Children's Hospital of Michigan...This is an extremely difficult time for the family, and our goal is to continue to provide compassionate care and support to baby Joseph and his family."

The London Health Services Centre says it will wait until it hears back from the Detroit hospital before making any further decisions about life support.

A hardline Muslim cleric who sparked anger across the U.S. with his anti-American comments in a television interview this month is to hold a protest outside the White House.
British extremist Anjem Choudary - who once said 'the flag of Islam will fly over the White House' - has announced he will lead a demonstration calling on Muslims to establish the Sharia law across America.
The rally, planned for March 3, is to take place just weeks after his on-screen row with Fox News presenter Sean Hannity.
Mr Choudary, 43, called Americans 'the biggest criminals in the world today.'
The former leader of outlawed group Islam4UK told the Daily Star 'we expect thousands to come out and support us.'
Mr Choudary said the March rally was organised by the Islamic Thinkers society, an extremist group based in New York.
Two other British extremists, Abu Izzadeen and Sayful Islam, have also been asked to speak at the demonstration.
Izzadeen is the hate preacher who caused fury last year when he called British soldiers 'murderers' the day he was released from jail after a three-and-a-half year sentence for inciting terrorism.
Mr Choudary told the newspaper: 'The event is a rally, a call for the Sharia, a call for the Muslims to rise up and establish the Islamic state in America.'

He hit U.S. headlines just two weeks ago after his furious exchange with Mr Hannity on Fox News. The presenter became so enraged with his anti-American comments he ended the interview by calling him a 'sick, miserable, evil S.O.B'.
The East London-based cleric's anti-American stance is well-documented. Last year he led protesters in burning the American flag outside the U.S. embassy in London on September 11.

Fox News broadcast an interview Shepherd Smith did with the woman who grabbed the magazine from the shooter in Arizona yesterday, after he had been brought to the ground and subdued by other bystanders. As I was listening it occurred to me that she sounded angry. She made sure to correct what was reported, that she had tackled the guy and grabbed the magazine from him. He was already down when one of the men who had him under control yelled for someone to grab the magazine, and she did. Shep was pushing, asking questions trying to make an interesting interview out of something it wasn't. I thought she was getting annoyed with the questions he was asking. But at the end of the interview he asked about her son who is a year older than the shooter, and then indicating it was the end of the interview asked if she had anything to say to people, and said something weird like "to make people feel better?" That is when she blamed right wing politicians and talk show hosts for the inflammatory language they use, and cited "the job killing bill" and things like that.

Jane Fonda, like SHE is so relevant these days has placed the blame on Sarah Palin for "targeting" Gabrielle Giffords congressional seat, because isn't it obvious that was the motive for this shooting? Sarah Palin made it happen? Why are people so afraid of her?

NOW is blaming GOP members of congress and says : "We condemn, equally, the culture of hate and violence increasingly reflected in extreme right-wing opponents of those who support progressive solutions to our country's challenges." So .. it's the peaceful tea partiers and the right wing commentators and politicians that made this man shoot people? Hmmm. Why don't they just say that opponents of progressive solutions are violent, because that's what they mean?

The former senator and Democratic presidential hopeful Gary Hart, writing on the Huffington Post website, blamed symbols such as cross hairs and the use of words such as "targeted".
"Today we have seen the results of this rhetoric," Hart wrote. GARY HART?? REALLY??

Giffords's father was blunter. Asked if she had any enemies, he said: "Yeah, the whole Tea Party."

Twitter and Palin's own Facebook page are exploding with accusations:

"You're a disgrace of a person! This is ALL your fault for exciting violence in America. Continue killing your wolves but stop making your minions kill politicians. This bulleyes list produced by you is most likely the reason for today's incident," one person wrote.

Another wrote this: "Well I guess Sarah can mark Gabrielle Giffords as "taken care of" on her target hit list. She must be so proud of herself!"
The posts are being rapidly erased.

New York Times columnist Paul Krugman wrote on his blog hours after the shooting that Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh have contributed to a “climate of hate.”

"You know that Republicans will yell about the evils of partisanship whenever anyone tries to make a connection between the rhetoric of Beck, Limbaugh, etc. and the violence I fear we’re going to see in the months and years ahead. But violent acts are what happen when you create a climate of hate. And it’s long past time for the GOP’s leaders to take a stand against the hate-mongers."

Krugman later disabled the comments on the post.

Why are politicians or people with right wing political views being blamed for this? We do not espouse hate and certainly do not incite violence! It makes me laugh when they throw Glenn Beck in there, what's HE doing - PRAYING bullets at someone??

We DO hate the actions of many people. We do hate the fact that many of us were kept quiet by political correctness for years until we figured out what was happening and now because we dare speak out and fight back politically - we hate groups of people and we promote violence??

I am so tired of the accusations. I am so tired of the lies.

But - it only strengthens my resolve to continue to fight toward getting our republic back through legal, political, and PEACEFUL means. Unfortunately when there are no real examples of right wing hatred and violence, the left makes it up. But we will not give them the real thing because we are NOT who they say we are.

People talk about America being a racist nation. If it is, it has only become one in the last two years under the most divisive administration ever. But that still doesn't mean this is a racist country like it was before Martin Luther King and separate drinking fountains etc. But I am beginning to think Chicago is the most divided city in the nation. Not to mention the most corrupt, but that's for another day.

Mayor Daley announcing he would not be running for mayor again caused a big scramble for who was going to run. Rahm came home and proved he was eligible to run because boxes he left in the crawlspace of the home he rented out while in D.C. meant he was coming back. Chicago was still home and he always intended to come back. Unless something else happens, his name will be on the ballet. But even before he was approved, as soon as he came into town 2 or 3 people jumped off the ballet. You don't suppose he made them an offer they couldn't refuse, do you? Hmmm.

It looks like the main competition for Rahm just may be Carol Moseley Braun. A week ago Sen James Meeks dropped out, he was one of the main challengers to Rahm Emanual's residency status. A couple of days ago neither Braun or Danny Davis were budging, they were planning on staying in the race until Rev. Jesse Jackson called them to a meeting on Wednesday night at his Rainbow Push headquarters. Danny Davis dropped out yesterday, and is endorsing Braun whole-heartedly, it's all about unity. Black unity. A-freaking-mazing.

In Chicago it doesn't seem to matter what party you belong to. It matters what color you are. Jesse Jackson and other local black leaders are trying to narrow down the number of black candidates so they have the best chance of winning the mayoral seat for a black candidate.

On the other side of town I'm sure there are groups of white guys pushing other white guys to drop out of the race so they can put all their support and money behind the perfect white guy who can win.

NOT. If that were happening there would be an uproar! That would be racist and just not acceptable.

In another part of Chicago you just know Luis Gutierrez is planning some kind of civil disobedience because his dream act didn't pass. He said he would quit the democrat party if it didn't happen but I haven't heard a word. Gutierrez who has been quoted as saying he only has one loyalty, and that is to the immigrant community. In Luis-speak - that means the illegal immigrant community. He calls them all immigrants, the "illegal" part is apparently - offensive. This from the man who was the former leader of the Puerto Rican Socialist Party in Illinois. Not a surprise.

But call me silly. Shouldn't Gutierrez be loyal to ALL his constituents? I mean, a few of them have to have papers, right? And shouldn't he be loyal to the U.S. Constitution? Now he's talking about Latinos breaking off and starting a whole new party of their own, the tequila party!

We have politicians who are running for office based on race, and others who are putting people first who aren't even citizens! And there's a lot of it in Chicago.

We are not supposed to judge people by race, right? Isn't that what MLK wanted? Yet we aren't supposed to talk about how divided Chicago is by exactly that. Race. I guess it's only bad if it's white people doing things on the basis of race. Hmm. That's the new status quo I guess.

Hell pretty soon we're going to need affirmative action for us white people!

Anger, petulance, and .. hostage takers?

I'm not sure why I continue to be surprised by this president. Just when he has an opportunity to be generous and/or gracious he just. can't. do it. He is an angry, bitter man.

Was it possible for him to have a press conference about continuing the Bush tax cuts without devolving into an 'us and them' mentality? Apparently not. Was it possible for the president to give the Republicans and the people something they need and want without being grudging and petulant? Apparently not. Was it even possible to discuss the issue at hand without trying to prove how scrappy and tough he is? Um.. no.

And Democrats out there are losing their minds! I was listening to the radio today and heard a clip from MSNBC - it was a woman saying that now we are going to be borrowing money to give to the wealthiest Americans. Excuse me?? We're going to borrow money to give to the people who are simply being allowed to keep more of their own money? Because it IS their own money! Why do people so conveniently forget that? That money belongs to the people who earn it, not to the government that takes it and wastes it.

So the logic is, not taking more money from the people it belongs to adds to the deficit. STOP SPENDING!!!!!! No one is GIVING money to the wealthy, but the government IS giving a hell of a lot of money to the unemployed! It kind of makes you feel relaxed doesn't it - that if you righteously get laid off or screw up and get fired .. you'll have a comfortable three years to find another job! So yeah, stay home for a year, work on your tan or your abs .. cook meals and get reacquainted with your family. On OUR dime. Nice!

Being out of work is starting to sound better all the time! Unfortunately we are paying people to not work. Most of us know someone .. lost their job a year ago, has taken a couple of jobs for cash so they didn't lose their full unemployment benefit or, either did not apply for lower paying jobs than they wanted, or turned them down if they were offered. Because they are damn comfortable with that free money. I do not believe someone cannot find a job in 2 years. I do believe someone very well might not find the job they WANT in 2 years. That's an entirely different thing.

The left is screaming, some of the right is too. Nobody is satisfied with what they are getting, if this turns out to be the deal. I'm pretty sure the left has never been so far from the right in history. The way the facts are twisted on a daily basis is disheartening and contributing to the polarizing of America.

Where is our leader? The person who is supposed to make decisions that are best for the people and true to American culture and ideals? Where is that leader who is graceful in defeat and above purely political decisions on matters of national defense and proposals to strengthen a faltering economy?

Because he's not in the White House now. The man in the white house is an empty suit of a man/child who cannot fathom that everyone doesn't see things his way and isn't willing to play by his rules because he is making them up as he goes along.

It's time for the man to take his bat and ball and go home. Please Mr. President, become the hero you want to be. Resign. You are incompetent.

Time for the truth

Okay, I do want President Obama out of office. My dream would be that he would wake up tomorrow morning and say - "I'm done." Then give a speech saying how much he sucks and how badly he's been doing his job. BUT I know that's not going to happen so I'll wait until 2012. I don't wish for anything other than an election to take him out, unless of course someone manages to find his Watergate and he's shamed out, that wouldn't be too bad either. Okay, let's just say I would settle for just about anything that gets him out of office that is legal and causes no physical harm. I didn't say anything about ethics. Ahem.

But when I saw that fat lip the other day, saw BO walking with that gauze in his hand, there was a teeny tiny part of me that was like - "aw-w-w-w .. why couldn't it have been me who caused that accident!!?!" I mean - there have been a few things he has done over the last couple of years I would have loved to pop him in the mouth for. For LYING to the American people maybe? But no. I never wished him harm.

Still, I'm enjoying the fat lip vicariously, hoping there was a little more than a basketball elbow behind it.

Is that wrong?

Because I really don't care.

No one was more surprised on September 11th 2001 than I was. I was not politically aware and had only a vague idea of what and where the World Trade Center was. Most of us were in shock, our world had shifted on it's axis and thrown us totally off kilter. Not surprisingly so.

It was a huge and horrific event, and like George W. Bush said when he heard the third plane hit the pentagon - I knew it was a declaration of war.

For days afterward I spoke to my teenage kids about what happened. To me it just didn't seem that they grasped the enormity of what had just occurred. I wanted them to get it, to absorb it, to deal with the

feelings involved in something so catastrophic. Still, it seemed more surface to them, as if they were not as surprised as I was and were taking it in stride.

Because of the school he went to my son was a captive audience for me every week day for about 20 minutes to school and 20 minutes back, as I drove him to school on my way to work and picked him up at his grandparents house on my way home. I had the same concerns everyone else did about the lost and missing loved ones, the grieving families left behind. Watching TV whenever possible fed my need for information, and caused me to cry over and over for all of those Americans forever scarred by the actions of so few.

And over and over again I asked why. And honestly to this day I still don't understand why.

But, with air traffic shut down for days I remember saying to my son on the way home one evening "y'know, they killed a lot of people, and for whatever reason they want to kill us all. But what they are really going to do is kill us economically."

Now if you know me you know I'm no Stephen Hawking, but that one fact was as clear to me as my own name. The airline industry is huge, and it affects every corner of our economy. There isn't a single business that does not require supplies of some sort, commerce in general requires travel, the ability to move people, things, and ideas from one side of the globe to the other. And the airline industry has not been the same since September 11th.

I'm not fond of flying these days. Never liked it much anyway but if we don't fly, even in protest of the intrusiveness of the body scans and enhanced pat-downs, we are hurting the airline industry as surely as if

we brought a plane down ourselves. Please keep flying. Don't let them win. Their aim is to destroy our economy and the airline industry was a smart place for them to start. It touches everything.

Find another way to protest the government intrusion. And keep flying. We're Americans, no one should be able to keep us on the ground if we want to fly. Do it.

It is amazing that a group of people not representing any particular country, not representing a certain government or nationality, not even the majority in the religion they fight for - is holding the world hostage.

The debate going on right now about touching people's "junk" or getting the body scans is all about Muslim extremists. Our own citizens are being treated like criminals in the name of safety, springing from an obscene and desperate necessity. We don't want to die.

It is really hard not to paint all Muslims with the same broad brush. Americans do not understand Islam, it's teachings are completely foreign to us. In the simplest terms because I'm a simple gal, God is good. God is different things to different people but in the American culture it really is simple. God is about love, hope, faith, and charity. And please, don't go all Old Testament on me here, I am speaking in generalities. We do not understand a religion that generates such hate and such violence.

Islam does not make sense to us, it clashes with all we know of religion and belief in God, it's tenants the total opposite of what we learned as children and heard preached from pulpits in temples and churches across our land. And because it does not make sense to us we have no frame of reference to say oh - this group has chosen to follow this part of the Koran and that group interprets the Koran in a totally different way. And because so few Muslim groups stand along side Americans in outrage when acts of terrorism have occurred, it is hard for us to not be suspicious of them, uncomfortable and sometimes, afraid.

The more we are restricted and man-handled and feel we are losing our rights to things as personal as our own bodies, the less we are apt to feel kindly toward Muslims in general.

Because we freaking cannot tell the difference between a Muslim that will hurt us and one that won't!

And it is simple self-preservation that we feel the need to mistrust those we cannot fathom, and those we see as being the ones responsible for causing us pain. They do not wear a sign that identifies them as a friendly Muslim or a frothing at the mouth crazy Jihadist nutbag Muslim.

I'm sorry but I just wish they would go. OH THE HORROR! My brothers would be so appalled. But I do. I'm tired of feeling like a racist when I worry about whether or not someone I love will be blown to bits while doing something as innocuous as shopping for Christmas gifts. I don't want to feel I have to change my way of life because someone wants to kill me and would delight in cutting off my head while rolling video. There is a part of me that wishes we could pull the virtual covers over our heads as a nation and not have to let anyone else in - and start a steady stream of Muslims on their way out.

I can't apologize for feeling that way either, because I wouldn't mean it. I can say I'm sorry if I hurt some one's sensibilities but that doesn't change the way I feel. I am so tired of people wanting to destroy us simply because we exist and feeling like we have to be on guard all the time.

Oh to be 11 years old again, riding my sting-ray down the street with no hands, with no worries beyond crashing my bike. I don't like what our lives have become and while I don't generally like to play the blame game, damn it, it is Muslims that have brought us here. I just wish they didn't like it here anymore.

Had some family in town recently, doesn't matter which ones, they are all liberals. One of my brothers made a remark about George Bush going into Iraq because his dad didn't get the opportunity to finish the job there so doggone it - he was going to. *crickets* Yes, he really did say that. Today a coworker said she had seen George Bush on TV the other day but "he's just not articulate, I couldn't watch him." Really??

Dubya is all over the TV right now because he's selling his book. My copy came yesterday, I pre-ordered it. I did not agree with everything George Bush did. I did not like the way he did some things. But I liked and I respected him. I cannot say that about his successor. I thought I would illustrate some of the reasons I liked President Bush.

He was real.

He could throw a baseball without looking like a girl.

No offence to the girls out there.

He was a cowboy and a leader when we needed one.

George Bush touched people.

He kissed babies.

President Bush liked people, and I never got the

feeling it was just a photo op.

Also - I'm pretty sure he knew how to use one of these.

He respected and loved the military,

..and they him.

He graciously wished his successor well, and did not flinch when

Obama turned around and blamed everything on him just minutes later.

George Bush had press conferences and actually took questions.

He wasn't too cool for the Easter Bunny.

He wore his heart on his sleeve, loved this country, and was

simply a decent man who deeply respected the office he held.

Also - there were some moments when he

reminded me of Johnny Carson. And I miss him too.

My ~~office~~ er .. roomate at work had to go out east for a week and brought back this little defective bell as a gift for me. I know, right? I set it on it's tiny box and decided it would stay there.

My defective bell stands for liberty which means more to me right now than at any other time in my life. I took a couple of pics and then realized I had set it right next to one of my little army men. Don't all office workers have little army men on their desks? Anyway. The juxtoposition of them both I thought was perfect. One makes the other possible.

We need to take heart where we can, absorb our strength and keep moving forward. We CAN take our country back.

Why people vote

Radio stations in my office are limited. My office mate listens to 'oldies' all day long, most of which I know the words to which tells you something. But that's not what I want to listen to. And of course none of the stations that carry the programs that appeal to me - will come in on any regular radio inside our building.

So I downloaded TSL Mobile Talk Radio on my iPhone and it has been a God send. At any given time during the day I can listen to whoever is on - be it Glenn, Sean, Rush, or one of my favorites, John Gibson. Surprised me, but I like to listen to him. Actually he's on Fox News Radio, but I digress.

Which brings me to my point. Why people are voting. John was trying to get his audience to think about whether it is racism to vote for someone because of their race, if it is considered racism to not vote for someone because of their race. Because whether they want to admit it or not, a lot of black voters are still supporting Obama, regardless of the fact that he has done nothing, zip, to help them. So what other reason besides the fact that - he's their guy?

Late in the day I received a call from a lady I have worked with off and on for 20 years. We were discussing work and how our helpdesk just got outsourced to India, and how distressing it is. We were ending our call when she said "well just be careful who you vote for."

We did the dance for a bit "well ... I'm thinking this is a conversation we don't want to have, not a good idea to talk politics ..."

"Yeah, I agree but .. "

"Because I'm rabid. Okay? I cannot stand Obama and I think he's the worst president we've ever had." I said it.

"Really? I ... wouldn't have thought it of you." What? Am I a pedophile or something? Because the way she said it - it sounded that bad.

She proceeded to tell me how she will never vote republican because of George Bush. I started to tune her out while she spewed all the half truths and old grievances against Dubya. And I finally said "Bush isn't running."

"Doesn't matter .. I wouldn't vote republican, my husband voted for him and I didn't talk to him for weeks!"

"You're an election behind. Bush didn't run in the last election and won't run in the next!" I was getting exasperated. "Obama is a freaking socialist. Besides which he SO doesn't have a clue ..."

"Well the problem is people only listened to the campaign talk, they didn't ask for specifics - maybe if Obama had run 10 to 15 years later he would do better but he's in over his head. And he's an idealist."

"YA THINK???"

I told her she was edging toward the tea party side and she said "yeah, a little."

"Well you know the tea party candidates will be running as republicans, right?"

"No ..."

"Yes, if they run as a separate party they'll split the vote and the democrats will win."

"Hm."

It made me angry that she is still so mad at George Bush, that even though she grudgingly agrees Obama is not the best, she still doesn't want to vote republican.

People need to educate themselves for this election. Listen to the radio - watch TV, read - listen to all sides and see what makes sense to you. Because one side or the other side will make sense to you. But for God's sake don't vote a certain way because you hated the other guy who isn't even running, and don't vote for or against someone because of their race.

And in these times, if you can't be bothered to learn the issues and the candidates stances on them and what those things will do to our country - DON'T VOTE! Please. Don't vote.

Thoughts From Glenn on Church Plan to Burn Koran

I’m on vacation and trying to unplug but the news can make that hard. I just read the story about the Florida church planning to burn copies of the Koran.

What is wrong with us? It’s just like the Ground Zero mosque plan. Does this church have the right? Yes. Should they? No. And not because of the potential backlash or violence. Simply because it is wrong. The more I reflect on what happened on 8/28 the more I realize the amazing power of GOOD.

We must be the better person. We must be bigger than our problems. Bigger than the times in which we live. Burning the Koran is like burning the flag or the Bible. You can do it, but whose heart will you change by doing it? You will only harden the hearts of those who could be moved. None of those who are thinking about killing us will be affected, but our good Muslim friends and neighbors will be saddened. It makes the battle that they face inside their own communities even harder.

Let us rise above the current levels and elevate ourselves and our country. The only thing this act would prove is that you CAN burn a Koran. I didn’t know America was in doubt on that fact. Let’s prove to each other that while there are many things we can do, there are maybe many more things that we choose not to do.

I have had an incredible amount going on, family things that I've been taking care of. I am tired from the running around, the emotional upheavals, more running around and decision making. Bone weary.

But in between hospitals and other facilities I've done some searches online. Maybe because my tolerance level is low, I don't know. But I really want to open my front door, step out on my porch and yell

"GET OUT! IF YOU ARE NOT HERE LEGALLY I DO NOT OWE YOU SQUAT! GET THE HELL OUT OF MY COUNTRY!!"

Stepping back into my house.

Immigrate. DO. Legally. And when you get here, expect to work hard and follow the rule of law, learn the language and incorporate America into your life. Adjust. Do not expect us to adjust to you. Treat this country with respect because it IS the best country in the world to live in. Do not demand anything from us, work hard and you will earn your livelihood and your neighbor's respect.

And in the meantime I'll just keep searching for stores here and there I can shop at, that are based in Arizona. Don't mind me.

As far as President Obama mocking us? Read what is in the blue quote box below, in the post you commented on. That is mockery and ridicule. It's actually a strategy.

If you go back and read I did not say Democrats are Socialists, I am saying Barack Obama is a Socialist. Whether you can or want to see it is not something I can control. But a person doesn't have to stand up and say "My name is Barack Obama and I am a Socialist" to be one.

If you are concerned with history, read up on Marx. Read up on Saul Alinsky. Read Barack Obama's own book "The Audacity of Hope". See how he grew up, who he looked up to and who he learned from. And then apply his actions (not what he says) to what you've read about Marx and Alinsky.

There is not a moment where I want to spread hate, but what I do want is to live in a free nation where I make my own decisions and not have the government control how my doctor gets paid, who he can treat, and with what technology or medications. They do not speak gospel but they are a lot more truthful than the rest of the media that may as well just wear I heart Obama pins on every one of their lapels. People who watch Fox or listen to Rush Limbaugh or Glenn Beck are not sheep by any means. They are people who are educated on the issues and ready to do what is necessary to turn this country around. We are a huge voting block, do not underestimate our influence. On the other hand - please feel free to underestimate us.

The liberal media make people like me out to be the nut cases, people who are on the fringe of the movement and at the edge of sanity. Nothing could be further from the truth. We are parents and teachers, pilots, doctors, construction workers and the guy who takes your money at the museum. We are office workers, store clerks and business owners. We are everyone. We simply believe in a more conservative viewpoint and want our country to remain the republic it was designed to be. Right now it is headed down a very dangerous road toward becoming like any other impotent European country out there. And if schools were teaching history properly anymore you would know that is the ideal our forefathers were escaping when they came to this new world.

We should treasure our Americanism, celebrate it, and fight for our way of life.

Listening to the radio at work today, the host was saying how he's not okay with people calling Obama a thug. He said he wasn't okay with the names George Bush was called either. He was saying people have to have respect for the office. You mean like when people booed Bush at Obama's inauguration? When George Bush was being more gracious than Obama could ever hope to be? Have respect for the office when Obama goes tie-less and jacket-less and has even been known to wear sweats in the oval office and put his feet up on the Resolute desk?

Our current president would not know respect if someone showed it to him. Apparently the only people he respects are foreign leaders for whom he bends at the waist and all but prostrates himself in front of. But the American people? Oh, US? Yeah, us he mocks. I guess we are around for his amusement. His disdain is obvious.

Three years ago, we made a promise. That promise has been kept.
Of course -- of course, over the last year, there’s been a lot of misinformation
spread about health care reform. There’s been plenty of fear-mongering,
plenty of overheated rhetoric. You turn on the news, you’ll see the same
folks are still shouting about there’s going to be an end of the world because
this bill passed. (Laughter.) I’m not exaggerating. Leaders of
the Republican Party, they called the passage of this bill “Armageddon.”
(Laughter.) Armageddon. “End of freedom as we know it.”

So after I signed the bill, I looked around to see if there any --
(laughter) -- asteroids falling or -- (applause) -- some cracks opening up in
the Earth. (Laughter.) It turned out it was a nice day.
(Laughter.) Birds were chirping. Folks were strolling down the
Mall. People still have their doctors.

From this day forward, all of the cynics, all the naysayers -- they’re
going to have to confront the reality of what this reform is and what it
isn’t. They’ll have to finally acknowledge this isn’t a government
takeover of our health care system. They’ll see that if Americans like
their doctor, they’ll be keeping their doctor. You like your plan?
You’ll be keeping your plan. No one is taking that away from you.
Three months from now, six months from now you’re going to look around.
You’re going to be sitting in a doctor’s office reading through the old People
magazines. (Laughter.) And you’ll say, hey, this is the same doctor,

He belittles us, thinks he's smarter than us and oh my he is so much more important than we are. I DO have respect for the office of President of the United States. But when the president holding that office does not even respect his country - much less love it? I have no respect for him. He is a thug, a bully, and insufferably smug.

We can do better. And we will.

Barack Obama will be a one term president and we will NOT be a Socialist nation - or whatever "ist" he is trying to lead us to. He is underestimating the strength of the American people. And he will pay first with losing his majority in congress. And then he will pay with only getting one term. And after that - he will pay by going down in history as the worst president ever.

Oh, and how much money will banks lose when the government takes over all the student loan business? The free market shouldn't make money off kids going to school. Only the government should do that!

Just ask Kathleen Sebelius who brags that the legislation will result in companies that make life-saving drugs having their profits reduced by $90 Billion. And we are supposed to cheer that - because the government sees no danger in shoving a very important industry into the ground. Cause y'know, I'm sure all that research and stuff isn't that expensive. All those profits are probably going into some fat cats pockets.

In days to come all the little things that have nothing to do with actual health and more to do with "controlling the people" and taxes every little thing we do to pay for the healthcare bill that congress and the president and his family are exempt from - will come crawling out. Can't wait.

I have not really been posting. A video here, a link there. I am so incredibly disheartened by the goings-on in Washington. I do not believe we have ever been lied to by a president on such a regular basis as we have been by this one.

Obama does not care about all those hard working Americans out there who are struggling. He cares about making history.

Obama does not care that some people cannot afford health insurance. He cares about growing the government.

Obama knows I will not be able to keep my insurance if I like it. All he cares about is being the president who goes down in history as finally getting a healthcare bill passed.

Obama does not care about people with pre-exisiting conditions. He cares about using them as props in his fight to be the savior so many believe him to be.

Obama does not believe that this bill is deficit neutral. All he cares about is getting it passed.

Obama knows the healthcare crisis in our country is not the insurance companies fault. All he cares about is having someone to point a finger at.

Obama knows the quality of healthcare will decline if his healthcare bill passes. All he cares about is getting the freaking thing passed.

As I watch him speaking to congress right now, and listen to his words, I marvel at the garbage spewing from his lips. I am constantly amazed at how many people believe his words when his actions are what count. He just spoke how people believe politicians are only out for themselves. And not 2 minutes before that he told a little story about one of the legislators who (despite the people in her district being against the bill) stood up as someone who supports this bill and will vote for it. He called that courage. I call that a politician who got something for her vote.

I am so tired of this. Why aren't people paying attention to what he DOES and not what he says??

This man is dangerous for our country and does not respect the constitution. He thinks he is above it. I want to pull the covers over my head and ask someone to wake me when he's gone.

But I'd be really afraid about what I'd find when I woke up.

I was minding my own business, looking at a scrapbooking site online, and there was an ad at the top of each page that scrolled through different messages.

Arie Friedman is running for congress in Illinois. I clicked on the ad and it took me to TheTeaPartyIsOver.org. The only clickable links on the page were to share the message using Facebook, Digg, and Twitter. Not even the attribution at the bottom was clickable.

I've never heard of the American Public Policy Committee and I wanted to see who was offending me while I was looking for scrapbook elements on a Sunday afternoon. I did a Google search and never came up with a website for them, although I did not search long. What I did come up with was this:

Labor union money linked to anti-Tea Party Web site

Organized labor may be putting their
dollars behind an online effort to take down Tea Party groups and their “radical
ideas.”

A new Web site, TheTeaPartyIsOver.org, has connections to
unions, including the Service Employees International Union and the American
Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees.

The American Public
Policy Committee pays for the site, whose self-declared mission is to “prevent
the Tea Party’s dangerous ideas from gaining legislative traction.”

According to Opensecrets.org, the top two financial backers of the
American Public Policy Committee this year are Patriot Majority West and Patriot
Majority, largely funded by union dollars.

During the 2008 election
cycle, the AFSCME contributed $5.8 million and the SEIU donated $770,000 to
Patriot Majority. Teamsters Union also donated $250,000, United Food &
Commercial Workers Union gave $125,000 and the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO donated
$6,500 to the group.

Attempts to contact the American Public Policy
Committee and Patriot Majority were not successful.

The site encourages
visitors to call Republicans Randy Hultgren, Arie Friedman and David McAloon —
all running for the U.S. House in Illinois — to “reject the dangerous ideas of
the Tea Party.”

“This movement is a fad,” the Web site reads, whose
“ideas include undermining the legitimacy of the federal government in favor of
a radical right-wing form of state’s rights.”

Unions. It figures. But if they think the tea party movement is a fad, they are sadly mistaken.

A report written by staff working for Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman John Kerry says many U.S. prisoners have become "radicalized."

WASHINGTON -- U.S. law enforcement authorities believe as many as three dozen Americans who converted to Islam in prison have traveled to Yemen, possibly to train with Al Qaeda, according to a Senate report.

The "radicalization" of the individuals has alarmed U.S. officials even though no evidence has tied them to terror activities.

Several of the individuals have "dropped off the radar" for weeks at a time and continue to carry U.S. passports, according to a copy of the report obtained by The Associated Press.
The assessment was written by staff working for Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman John Kerry, a Democrat.

"Al Qaeda's recruitment tactics also have changed," Kerry wrote in an introduction to the report. "The group seeks to recruit American citizens to carry out terrorist attacks in the United States."

Al Qaeda forces in Yemen have emerged in recent months as a pressing threat to U.S. security, with ties to a recent airline bombing plot and the shooting deaths of 13 people at the U.S. Army's Fort Hood post.

The White House and Pentagon have said they have no plans to send ground troops there, and Yemen has made clear it would not want them. Remaining options would include covert strikes against Al Qaeda targets and increased aid to help train and equip Yemen's own security forces.
Gen. David Petraeus, head of U.S. Central Command whose command territory includes Yemen, has said he would like to double military aid to that country, which currently is receiving about $67 million.

Kerry's report was expected to set the stage for a Wednesday public hearing on Yemen with testimony from senior State Department officials.

In addition to its finding that Al Qaeda was trying actively to attract "nontraditional followers" who could penetrate U.S. security, the staff report concludes that Al Qaeda has remained a viable threat.

"Despite setbacks, Al Qaeda is not on the run," the report concludes.

Kerry's staff also cites as many as 10 non-Yemeni Americans, in addition to the nearly three dozen prisoners, who moved to Yemen, became Islamic fundamentalists and married Yemeni women to remain in the country.

"Described by one American official as 'blond-haired, blue eyed-types,' these individuals fit a profile of Americans whom Al Qaeda has sought to recruit over the past several years," the report states.

I saw a defense attorney from Chicago on FOX tonight, saying that there is no such thing as an "enemy combatant" anymore. Her reason? Because Obama said that characterization is not to be used anymore in the U.S. So, the words don't exist? If you try to say them the words will fall off your tongue and evaporate into some kind of evil mist? Because you know, Obama said so.

The C.A.I.R. Communications Director was also on FOX tonight. And I could not care less what his name is. He was talking about profiling and how can you catch those Swedish grandma Muslim terrorists if all you're doing is looking for guys who look middle eastern? (insert rude noise here.) Well if we use profiling as our only tool, that would be stupid. If we used watch lists as our only tool, bad too. But if people paid attention when a young guy who is flying alone smacks down $3000.00 cash for a plane ticket (one way) and has no luggage to boot, that could be a tool we could use!

The point is - we need to use as many tools we have available to us and I am sorry if it hurts somebodies feelings. If I were profiled because people like me were running around doing bad things - I would be angry with those people who look like me! Not at the cops or security people who are trying to protect me and everyone who wants to get on an airplane!

Somebody ask Israel, would ya? They use profiling heavily, no bones about it. I'm sure they use many tools and it works quite well for them. We have to stop being sissies about offending people when it comes to safety! Did anyone do a breakdown of the people on that plane on Christmas? There were men and women, young and old, children, and if that guy hadn't started his underpants on fire and had actually blown up the plane - there were be some member of C.A.I.R. with his head held high that he kept us from profiling Muslims.

What do the people who have been trying to kill us using terror for the last 10 years or more have in common? They are Islamists. Muslims. Jihadists. And they hate us. They hate us because we are not of their religion and we breathe the air. Apparently that's all it takes. And they Want. Americans. To. Die.

If we want to protect ourselves we need to use every tool at our disposal. If that means my son (who has very black facial hair) gets pulled aside and patted down when he flies - SO BE IT!!!! Who the heck cares? It will make the person sitting next to him on the plane feel a bit better.

Our would-be Christmas bomber should not have gotten as far as we did but now - he should be treated as an enemy combatant, he is a soldier in a war declared against us many years ago. He does not deserve Miranda rights or a comfy cell and a well heeled lawyer.

There's no place for angels atop Christmas trees, according to one California man who successfully lobbied for the removal of religious symbols at county buildings after spotting a yuletide decoration last week.

Stars and other religious emblems were ordered removed from Christmas trees in all government buildings in Sonoma County on Monday following a complaint by Irv Sutley, a disabled 65-year-old Marine veteran who said the symbols were "extremely offensive" and part of the "cult" of Christianity.

Sutley said he filed the complaint with acting County Administrator Chris Thomas on Dec. 18 after noticing an angel atop a six-foot tree in the lobby of the county recorder's office. Sutley, a lifelong atheist and chairman of the county's Peace and Freedom Party, said he visited the office last week for his re-election bid next June. (Peace and Freedom Party? That name qualifies as 'ironic'.)

Sutley said the angel violated previous court rulings concerning holiday displays, including a 1989 U.S. Supreme Court ruling that found that government-sponsored Christmas trees decorated with religious symbols constitute an illegal endorsement of Christian doctrine.

Sutley said he was pleased with a subsequent e-mail sent by Thomas to managers of all 26 county departments instructing them to remove religious symbols like angels and stars from holiday displays.

Jim Toomey, a public information officer for Sonoma County, confirmed the removal.

"To avoid any controversy and to satisfy this gentleman's concerns, the ornaments were removed," said Toomey, adding that he knew of no prior complaints concerning the holiday display. (That's a great policy - offend many to please one.)

Sutley, of Santa Rosa, said he's pleased with Thomas' directive, but said his work might not yet be done. The veteran previously led successful efforts to stop prayers at government meetings in nearby cities and forced Rohnert Park to redesign its city emblem due to religious symbols.

He now intends to ask county officials to remove a steel cross near Ernie Smith Park in Sonoma that serves as a memorial to an accident victim. (Really? A memorial to an accident victim?)

"It was put up privately without a permit," Sutley said. "It shouldn't be there."

I have been busy. It's the Christmas season which brings it's own special kind of stress. There have been other issues to attend to and I have not had much time to blog. But also? I am disheartened. Obama gives himself a B+?

Everything going on in Washington right now is simply incomprehensible to me. Harry Reid and the White House are pressuring and bribing dems to support the healthcare bill. Obama called democrats to the White House today, he wants this bill passed because it's all about him. This is HIS chance to make history. Forget about all the promises about transparency and debates on C-Span and hell - forget a HUGE portion of the American people. People who will be footing the bill for this monstrosity. Because it's all about him.

He is closing Gitmo and those terrorist prisoners of war will be coming to the great state of Illinois. My state. Obama's state. It's enough to make me want to move.

The untruths, the flat out lies emanating from every corner of this administration and it's democrat majority in the house and senate are astounding! And it all boils down to one thing.

Redistribution of wealth.

I have worked my ass off for years being a single mom trying to keep my head above water and now when I have reached a place where I can sort of breathe every month instead of scrambling to decide which bill I can pay - I am going to be punished - for the greater good, of course.

There will always be an upper class, the wealthy. No matter what bills are passed or laws created - the rich will always be there because they can buy what they want be it healthcare or housing or status. But the middle class? People like me? We are the ones the money is going to be taken from. We are not going to be the ones to benefit from this government. I'm not asking for Washington to give me one damn thing. Unless you count asking them to just leave me the hell alone!

And the poor? They will still be poor. Except they will have even less incentive to NOT be poor with everything the government wants to give them. The more dependent you make someone - the more power you have over them. And when people are not encouraged to take care of themselves - initiative and a desire to succeed is killed. The poor - remain poor.

This healthcare bill is simply a huge leap into Socialism, giving a frightening amount of control to the government.

I won't stop fighting in any way I can. I won't stop speaking out but I am so disappointed that we have gotten to this place. And I am tired.

Looking for evidence of Obama's past, Fox News contacted 400 Columbia University students from the period when Obama claims to have been there, but none remembered him.

Wayne Allyn Root was, like Obama, a political science major at Columbia who also graduated in 1983. In 2008, Root says of Obama, "I don't know a single person at Columbia that knew him, and they all know me.

I don't have a classmate who ever knew Barack Obama at Columbia . Ever! Nobody recalls him. I'm not exaggerating, I'm not kidding." Root adds that he was also, like Obama, "Class of '83 political science, pre-law" and says, "You don't get more exact or closer than that. Never met him in my life, don't know anyone who ever met him.

At the class reunion, our 20th reunion five years ago, who was asked to be the speaker of the class? Me.

No one ever heard of Barack! And five years ago, nobody even knew who he was. The guy who writes the class notes, who's kind of the, as we say in New York, the macha who knows everybody, has yet to find a person, a human who ever met him. Is that not strange?

Losing our National Identity

Finding out that my daughter did not have a sense of pride of country, or national identity, or did not necessarily think either were a good thing - came as a shock to me. Until I realized I had not taught those things to my kids. I think I just took it for granted that my children were being taught the same American history I was, and I wasn't really a conservative as they were growing up anyway. I was apathetic about politics, it did not interest me and generally had the attitude that one way or another, things would be fine. My reason for not voting was "I am not informed and would rather not vote, than place an uninformed one."

So call me a 9/11 conservative. Seeing all the flags come out in the days after September 11th brought out a sense of country and pride I did not know I possessed.

But we are losing that sense of pride. We are losing our national identity. Partly because of political correctness and allowing immigrants to come to our country but not requiring them to meet certain standards to actually become American, and partly because of the push toward globalism.

During the conversation I had with my daughter with respect to immigration and identity, her freshly minted college education trumped my less than articulate argument. I came away feeling selfish, like I did not want to share my county with others and that's just not it. Yes, immigrate here! Do it legally and then assimilate. Don't force us to respect your culture, learn to adopt ours. That's why you came here right? To live in the best country in the world? If you try to make it like the one you just left, why did you leave it at all?

Even French President Nicolas Sarkozy has opened a dialogue in his country about national identity. It's causing a lot of commotion over there. He said “France does not demand that you give up your history or your culture,” Sarkozy said. “But France demands of those who would link their fates to hers to also share her history and her culture. France is not hodgepodge of communities or individuals. . . Becoming French means accepting a form of civilization, values, and customs.”

Exactly. The U.S. was not settled by an ethnic group. Yes the people were all ethnically similar but it was more the common ideals they were seeking. Freedom from tyranny, freedom to worship, they helped each other but were about self reliance and responsibility. This nation was started by strong, determined and tough people. The ideals this country was founded on are being crushed, one by one.

To go directly to the PDF overview - click on the pic above left. It's worth the read, the overview says very simply what I've been thinking for a long time and was never able to put it into words. It could also be valuable as a pamphlet as well. We are fighting the healthcare bill, we are opposing this administration in the White House. But we are also fighting for the very identity of our nation, we as citizens are losing a way of life we love.

I realized I didn't know much about "Organizing for America" so I checked it out.

After hearing Nancy Pelosi calling us astro-turf and denying that the movement across the country against this healthcare bill could not possibly be a grassroots movement .. I am appalled by this electioneering by the president himself. I must be incredibly naive but - have other presidents done this while in office? The 2nd thing Obama did after hearing the healthcare bill passed in the house was to send out an email to his Hitler Youth.. er .. OFA supporters asking for money to continue their fight, now in the senate.

Obama's community organizing skills are serving him well, as well as having the money to put together this kind of slick website and campaign. It shouldn't be called Organizing For America, it should be called Organizing For a Socialist America or at the very least - Organizing for Obama!

Home from work today, I have a lot of vacation time to use up before the end of the year because I have put in over 20 years with the same company. I may not make a ton of money but I do have some good benefits. Don't let Obama know though, he might decide I need to share my vacation hours with someone who hasn't put in as many years as I have.

I missed the beginning of the coverage of the march on the capital today, but I took some screen shots from the Fox live stream of what I did see. There were many members of congress who spoke and in the end one of them said 'Go into those halls and find a democrat. They may be hiding in the basement, they may be sitting in the cafeteria pretending they aren't a member. But find them and tell them what you think!"

There were 2 members of congress who were holding copies of the bill, uncomfortably I might add, because it's so big and so heavy! Michelle Bachman said they were going to pass out all the pages of the bill and urged people to take a page, read it, and bring it to their representative and ask them to explain it to them. She also said "Then at least they can say they read part of the bill!"

Republican Dede Scozzafava endorsed her former Democratic opponent Sunday in the race for an upstate New York congressional seat, shaking up the contest for the second day in a row after exiting the race Saturday.

Scozzafava dropped out after Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman experienced a late-in-the-game surge. The move was expected to consolidate GOP voters behind Hoffman on Tuesday.

But on Sunday, Scozzafava issued a written statement in which she backed Democrat Bill Owens.

"I am supporting Bill Owens for Congress and urge you to do the same," she said. "In Bill Owens, I see a sense of duty and integrity that will guide him beyond political partisanship. He will be an independent voice devoted to doing what is right for New York. Bill understands this district and its people, and when he represents us in Congress he will put our interests first."

Hoffman and Owens are competing for the 23rd Congressional District seat formerly held by Republican John McHugh, who was lured away by the Obama administration to be Army secretary.

Scozzafava was criticized by members of her party for being too moderate on social issues. However, it's unclear how much of an impact her endorsement will have as there were mixed messages coming out of the GOP -- a spokesman for the National Republican Congressional Committee said Saturday that Scozzafava was releasing her supporters to vote for Hoffman.

And poll numbers suggest Owens would have to make significant inroads among Republican moderates to pull support away from Hoffman. A Siena Research Institute survey showed 64 percent of Scozzafava voters were self-identified Republicans -- only 19 percent identified themselves as Democrats.

Democrats, though, were clearly banking on Scozzafava to try to tilt the balance in their favor.
White House Senior Adviser Valerie Jarrett said on ABC's "This Week" that Democrats would "love" to have the Republican candidate back Owens.

"It's rather telling when the Republican Party forces out a moderate Republican and it says, I think, a great deal about where the Republican Party is right now," she said.

I'm wondering if this public 'states opt out', consumer, competitive, whatever you want to call it option - is a red herring. With all the incredibly opaque closed door meetings on healthcare, I would not be surprised to hear that Harry Reid threw this into the bill so everyone would concentrate on it and consequently be willing to accept anything and everything in the proposed legislation if only that public option was thrown out. Just a thought.

These are some of the people I can only wish would be forced to use the public option were it to be passed in the long awaited healthcare reform bill, resulting in insufficient numbers of physicians, long waits, rationing and a lower standard of care for millions of Americans who are already quite happy with their health insurance.

Not a complete list, obviously. Who would you throw under that healthcare bus?

"We are worried about 'the cow' when it is all about the 'Ice Cream.'

The most eye-opening civics lesson I ever had was while teaching third grade last year...
The presidential election was heating up and some of the children showed an interest.
I decided we would have an election for a class president.
We would choose our nominees. They would make a campaign speech and the class would vote.

To simplify the process, candidates were nominated by other class members.
We discussed what kinds of characteristics these students should have.
We got many nominations and from those, Jamie and Olivia were picked to run for the top spot. The class had done a great job in their selections. Both candidates were good kids.
I thought Jamie might have an advantage because he got lots of parental support.
I had never seen Olivia's mother.

The day arrived when they were to make their speeches.

Jamie went first.
He had specific ideas about how to make our class a better
place. He ended by promising to do his very best.
Everyone applauded and he sat down.

Now is was Olivia's turn to speak.
Her speech was concise.
She said, "If you will vote for me, I will give you ice cream.."
She sat down.
The class went wild. "Yes! Yes!
We want ice cream."

She surely would say more. She did not have to.
A discussion followed. How did she plan to pay for the ice cream?
She wasn't sure.
Would her parents buy it or would the class pay for it.
She didn't know.
The class really didn't care.
All they were thinking about was ice cream.
Jamie was forgotten. Olivia won by a landslide.

Every time Barack Obama opened his mouth he offered ice cream and
52 percent of the people reacted like nine year olds.
They want ice cream.
The other 48 percent know
they're going to have to feed the cow and clean up the mess."
This is the ice cream Obama promised us!

Remember, the government cannot give anything to anyone --
that they have not first taken away from someone else.
