What we're up against

*
One of the first things I read online this morning was:

Shortly after releasing his official statement on tonight's historic vote, President Obama sent out the following email to supporters: This evening, at 11:15 p.m., the House of Representatives voted to pass their health insurance reform bill. Despite countless attempts over nearly a century, no chamber of Congress has ever before passed comprehensive health reform. This is history. But you and millions of your fellow Organizing for America supporters…

I realized I didn't know much about "Organizing for America" so I checked it out.

After hearing Nancy Pelosi calling us astro-turf and denying that the movement across the country against this healthcare bill could not possibly be a grassroots movement .. I am appalled by this electioneering by the president himself. I must be incredibly naive but - have other presidents done this while in office? The 2nd thing Obama did after hearing the healthcare bill passed in the house was to send out an email to his Hitler Youth.. er .. OFA supporters asking for money to continue their fight, now in the senate.

Obama's community organizing skills are serving him well, as well as having the money to put together this kind of slick website and campaign. It shouldn't be called Organizing For America, it should be called Organizing For a Socialist America or at the very least - Organizing for Obama!

We have our work cut out for us, that's for sure.

"Organizing for Socialist America" is right. And you're right to title this post, "What we're up against."

I don't think we realized exactly what we're up against. Those on 'our side' are too busy going to work, raising families, building communities to be twittering about the Twit-in-Chief.

Keep this up, JL. We HAVE to realize how entrenched these people are, if we've even got a chance to defeat them!

I tell you what Susannah, it's frightening. They know how to trade on people's vulnerabilties and appeal to their hopes and dreams. Never mind the truth.
