One of the first things I read online this morning was:

I realized I didn't know much about "Organizing for America" so I checked it out.

After hearing Nancy Pelosi calling us astro-turf and denying that the movement across the country against this healthcare bill could not possibly be a grassroots movement .. I am appalled by this electioneering by the president himself. I must be incredibly naive but - have other presidents done this while in office? The 2nd thing Obama did after hearing the healthcare bill passed in the house was to send out an email to his Hitler Youth.. er .. OFA supporters asking for money to continue their fight, now in the senate.

Obama's community organizing skills are serving him well, as well as having the money to put together this kind of slick website and campaign. It shouldn't be called Organizing For America, it should be called Organizing For a Socialist America or at the very least - Organizing for Obama!

Home from work today, I have a lot of vacation time to use up before the end of the year because I have put in over 20 years with the same company. I may not make a ton of money but I do have some good benefits. Don't let Obama know though, he might decide I need to share my vacation hours with someone who hasn't put in as many years as I have.

I missed the beginning of the coverage of the march on the capital today, but I took some screen shots from the Fox live stream of what I did see. There were many members of congress who spoke and in the end one of them said 'Go into those halls and find a democrat. They may be hiding in the basement, they may be sitting in the cafeteria pretending they aren't a member. But find them and tell them what you think!"

There were 2 members of congress who were holding copies of the bill, uncomfortably I might add, because it's so big and so heavy! Michelle Bachman said they were going to pass out all the pages of the bill and urged people to take a page, read it, and bring it to their representative and ask them to explain it to them. She also said "Then at least they can say they read part of the bill!"

After ending by singing God Bless America the marchers were urged to go to the capital office buildings. Just before the feed was cut and all I could see where camera men and a few people milling around I heard "..any one of those buildings .. go get 'em!"

It's not really about healthcare.

There is so much more involved than just healthcare reform. We are on such a slippery slope and so many people are sliding down it with smiles on their faces. They have no idea what it's all really about.

“I believe that the economy is under siege,” he said.

“This is not about insuring the uninsured — this is not about health care,” Limbaugh said. “This is about stealing one-sixth of the U.S. private sector and putting it under the control of the federal government.”

“And when they get this health care bill — if they do — that’s the easiest, fastest way for them to be able to regulate every aspect of human behavior, because it will all have some related cost to health care — what you drive, what you eat, where you live, what you do — and there will be penalties for violating regulation.”

If wishing could make it so

I'm wondering if this public 'states opt out', consumer, competitive, whatever you want to call it option - is a red herring. With all the incredibly opaque closed door meetings on healthcare, I would not be surprised to hear that Harry Reid threw this into the bill so everyone would concentrate on it and consequently be willing to accept anything and everything in the proposed legislation if only that public option was thrown out. Just a thought.

These are some of the people I can only wish would be forced to use the public option were it to be passed in the long awaited healthcare reform bill, resulting in insufficient numbers of physicians, long waits, rationing and a lower standard of care for millions of Americans who are already quite happy with their health insurance.

Clinton's advice to Obama: Forget about Republicans

Clinton should forget about Republicans, Bill Clinton says.(CNN) — As President Obama gets set to address a joint-session of Congress on the issue of health care reform Wednesday night, former President Clinton says it's time to forget about the Republican Party's role in the process entirely.

"The president's doing the right thing. It is both morally and politically right," Clinton told Esquire Magazine in an interview published online Tuesday. "I wouldn't even worry about the Republicans. I'd worry about executing." . . .

. . ."Do I think he's doing the right thing, even though he's jamming a lot of change down the system? I do," he also said. "So there's a lot that's like my first year, but it's going to have a different ending — he's going to get health care reform."

Crazier and crazier

Seems things have gone from crazy to insane. We have citizens going to town hall meetings and Democrats denying that these are just average folks, apparently we are to believe that either Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity sent every single one of them. Probably told them what to say and designed the signs for the people protesting outside.

This seems to be Obama's modes operandi. Don't address the issues, slam the people opposing him. Or - deny, deny, deny. President Obama scoffs at the idea that he is for a single payor healthcare plan. Yet there is video of him saying that is precisely what he wants.

Congress is out for the August summer recess. During this time many members of congress go back to their homes and hold "town hall" meetings to address issues with their constituents. So far these town halls have had unexpected consequences and many of our congressmen and ladies are not liking it. If they are planning to vote for the healthcare bill as it stands now, they are being aggressively questioned and not let off the hook with pat government talking points.

People are angry.

Now several congress-people have decided to back out of town halls totally, and some have retreated behind the safety of the telephone and are doing town halls where they get to pick the questions they answer. There will be no face to face, no surprises and no anger they will have to deal with. How convenient.

Why aren't they paying attention to the reasons behind the anger? Why are they pushing legislation down our throats that will very likely get them voted out of office in the next election? Are they really that self-important that they believe they know what is best for us? Apparently they are.
